JEFF KING - PRESIDENT
Jeff has a Masters in Engineering (Ocean) from University of Washington, an MBA and CMA from University of British Columbia, and a BS in Manufacturing Management, Western Washington University.
Jeff’s working career began on salmon seiners and gillnetters. His aquaculture experience includes five years at Marine Harvest Canada responsible for engineering designs. He worked on projects for oceanographic research equipment and later patented and developed fish processing equipment that is now being marketed in Europe. At Jacques Whitford Environmental he helped the firm grow into one of the leading environmental consulting companies in Canada. He received national awards two years in a row from the Canadian Consulting Engineers Association for developing new environmental remediation solutions.
As CR Engineering’s President and founder, Jeff has developed strong working relationships with most major industrial and aquaculture companies on north Vancouver Island, providing a service based on practical and efficient solutions. Throughout his 35 year career he has designed and maintained equipment: supervising maintenance on the most advanced offshore drilling rig in the world, to supervising maintenance in large manufacturing companies with automation. He understands the needs of companies for technical solutions that are practical and that work.

VITTORIO VENTURINI - MANAGING DIRECTOR
Vittorio has a Bachelor degree in Fisheries Engineering and a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Management. Over 25 years of experience in the Aquaculture and Seafood Industry in Chile and Canada and the boat building sector in Chile. Over 20 years in Senior Management Positions and as an independent Consultant in the field.
Responsible for management and operations of large-scale fully integrated aquaculture Companies, Vittorio is experienced in business development and strategic planning. Leading important teams of professionals, he has been responsible for designing, building, managing and improving operating systems for hatcheries, nurseries and grow-out farms (land-based as well as sea farms) working on full cycles of several species . Knowledgeable in seafood processing plants certified under very strict Quality Management Plans for local and international markets (EU, US, Japan, Latin America). Experienced in shellfish harvest, seafood transportation, shellfish processing, packing, labeling, storage, sales and seafood shipping procedures. Well connected at different levels and with solid technical knowledge, he has also developed an important network of international customers and suppliers of the aquaculture industry.
In Chile, a leading aquaculture country, Vittorio was an active member of its aquaculture development in many roles for the private sector. He was appointed, on its creation, to the National Aquaculture Commission (2003-2005). He was also member of several industry-related committees, associations, councils, work groups and professional organizations. He is experienced in fish stock assessment, and participated in numerous research projects in Chile, delivering scientific and technical reports and publications. He was also assessor for the Fisheries Research Fund. As independent consultant, Vittorio worked with several of the largest shellfish companies in Chile providing expert advice in farming operations and forecast, seafood processing, licensing procedures and inventory audits. He still keeps an excellent relationship with the Chilean Industry and Government Offices.
Arriving in Canada in 2011 as Technical Manager for the start-up of a new First Nations’ owned shellfish project, and assuming later the position of VP of operations, he has developed a comprehensive knowledge of the local industry and aquaculture regulations. He was appointed to the Advisory Committee at the Marine Plan Partnership for the North Pacific Coast (MaPP) (2012-2015). Vittorio is recognized as a serious and reliable professional acting as principal liaison with Government Offices, Industry and other organizations in both countries.

J I M D O N A L D S O N (Associate)
Jim has a Bachelor Degree of Science in Fisheries from the University of Washington. He has been intimately involved in the development of molluscan shellfish hatcheries since their inception in the early 1970's. The design, construction, and hands-on operation and management of state-of-the-art hatcheries and nurseries are Jim’s strengths. His background in private hatchery production in the US for over 25 years enabled him to understand the need to focus on production of shellfish and maximization of profits, while continuing with involvement in and development of cutting-edge technology.
Jim is the President and founder of Olympus Aquaculture Consulting Inc. and has been an independent consultant since February 2000, getting involved in numerous projects on a variety of species worldwide. For him, experience, innovation and a hands-on approach have been the keys to success of most hatcheries in the world. He has designed systems and taught staff with maximum attention to detail making sure they have the proper technology to accomplish their goals.
Jim is expert in flow-through larvae rearing systems for high density production of larvae of all species, downwell and upwell setting and juvenile growth systems for clams, oysters, geoduck, mussels and scallops, land-based and on floating rafts (FLUPSY). He is also experienced in commercial triploid production of shellfish and partnered with the University of Washington to be the first to develop triploid technology for commercial use in bivalve hatcheries.
From conceptual design to construction oversight, protocol implementation and operational reviews, Jim has been actively involved in numerous shellfish hatchery projects in the US (from Alaska to Florida and Hawaii), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Mexico and Korea. Jim has also conducted seminars and participated in shellfish hatchery advisory committees.
P A T R I C I O C O R T E S (Associate)
Patricio is one of our collaborators. He is BSc. in Biology and has been involved in the Aquaculture and Seafood industry in Chile for over 35 years. President and founder of Consultora Oceano, in his past work experience he has been senior manager in many seafood production companies as well as independent consultant and has participated in innumerable international trade and technical missions related to the seafood industry. He is a well recognized expert in fresh, frozen and canned shellfish processing plants of different species.
Patricio has been founder and Director of different industry-related associations and organizations in Chile. Also director of research projects at Universidad Católica del Norte and Fundación Chile. He was consultant of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). Representing his country, he acted as technical expert at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva on Chile’s complaint against the new denomination of the Chilean Scallop in the French market.
